Species today face accelerating habitat degradation and climate change. Their responses to these challenges dictate the future of biodiversity of our planet.

Nancy Emery’s Lab studies organisms that live in extreme and rapidly changing environments. Their goal is to understand how species manage change and uncertainty over the course of their lives. The lab works in warming mountaintops in Colorado, as well as vernal pools in drought-prone California.

For this project, we helped the Emery Lab craft a brand, logo, and website to share their research with a global audience. Our goal was to create a brand and digital presence that engages new audiences in climate research and the Emery Lab’s mission.

If we’re going to empower people to fight climate change, we need science like the Emery Lab’s to be accessible, approachable, and engaging. A strategic brand and website was the perfect place to start!

The brand

sunny, adventurous, collaborative

The Emery Lab values robust experiments, long-term monitoring, and careful statistical inquiry. They are motivated by a genuine wonder for the natural world and prioritize responsible, careful, and respectful science.

To reflect their values, we designed a brand for the Emery Lab that is bright, bold, and adventurous. Their logo reflects their passion for nature, data, and ecological studies in context. Their palette is a mix of bright hues that create a sunny and welcoming vibe.

Drawing from California grasslands and Colorado valleys, their brand reflects the experimental systems, research approaches, and core values that matter most to this lab group.
