LIFE: from early cells to multicellularity

Website design + brand strategy

Life RCN: from early cells to multicellularity

LIFE: from early cells to multicellularity is the newest of 5 Research Coordination Networks (RCNs) from NASA’s astrobiology program. Unlike most science funding agencies, NASA requires their centers to create a logo and website for launch, so by the time we connected with the LIFE Co-PIs, they were already eager for designs. The energy of this astrobiology network was palpable, and we couldn’t wait to dive in!

The brand

playful, dynamic, excited

LIFE focuses on the journey from single cells to multicellularity, and the critical biological innovations that paved the way. The brand for this group is friendly, energetic, and playful. The brand is inspired by the wonder of space, the power of collaboration, and complete awe for the evolution of multicellularity.

Behind the scenes:

logo design concepts

We wanted to focus on 2 key aspects of the science: collaboration and multicellularity. And to present those concepts in a way that was compelling, playful, and dynamic. Which design is your favorite?
