Insect welfare is an emerging field of study to inform best practices for insect users and producers. Through research and practice, insect welfare aims to understand and improve the ethical use of insects in agriculture and beyond.

Dr. Meghan Barrett’s lab is a pioneer in insect welfare. They are breaking new ground in understanding insects’ senses and experiences through interdisciplinary collaborations and the application of principles from neuroscience, physiology, and behavior. Their goal is to provide data-driven tools to insect farmers, consumers, and researchers.

For this lab, we wanted to build a brand and website as bold, compassionate, and radical as the science itself. The client wanted the design to feel open and free flowing, with big pops of color. It was a true collaboration, and we couldn’t love the results more!

The brand

bold, brave, and data-driven

We make so many assumptions about what insects feel and think. The Barrett Lab is radically committed to quantifying the insect experience and ensuring they do not suffer in their lives or deaths for agriculture.

The Barrett Lab brand is bold and data-driven. They are defiantly rigorous and radically compassionate. The brand is anchored in its drive to understand the insect experience and design policy for the ethical and compassionate treatment of insects.
