The Nature & People Action Collaborative (NPAC) is tackling a question that many institutions struggle to answer: how do we turn scientific knowledge into meaningful action?
The initiative brings together researchers, communities, governments, and organizations to co-create nature-based solutions that address climate change, biodiversity loss, and human well-being. While the mission is compelling, the breadth of the work created a significant communication challenge.
Impact Media Lab partnered with NPAC to develop a brand and website capable of bringing this vision into focus.
Through messaging development, visual identity design, and website creation, we translated a complex interdisciplinary initiative into a clear and cohesive story. Rather than positioning NPAC as another research center, we highlighted its role as a catalyst for collaborative action.
The resulting brand gives NPAC a distinctive position within the sustainability landscape and a platform for future growth. The website helps communicate the organization’s value to researchers, community partners, and funders while creating a stronger foundation for collaboration, education, and impact. The project demonstrates how thoughtful strategy and design can transform complexity into clarity without sacrificing scientific rigor.

With the strategic foundation established, we developed a visual identity designed to embody three core characteristics of the Nature & People Action Collaborative: collaborative, optimistic, and action-oriented.
Unlike many environmental organizations that focus primarily on ecological systems, NPAC operates at the intersection of people and nature. The brand needed to reflect both scientific rigor and human connection, communicating that lasting environmental solutions emerge through partnership, trust, and shared action.
The color palette further distinguishes NPAC from traditional environmental brands. Rather than relying on saturated greens and institutional blues, we developed a softer collection of teals, sand tones, peaches, and natural neutrals inspired by both landscapes and the people who inhabit them. The result feels welcoming, hopeful, and community-centered.
Together, the typography, color palette, and visual language create a brand that feels as comfortable in a community workshop as it does in an academic conference, reflecting NPAC’s unique ability to connect scientific knowledge with real-world action.
